Our Mission, Purpose, and Vision

  • Lumière creates performing arts experiences in an educational environment that promotes creativity, individual enrichment and collaboration with patience and love. We embrace challenges, encourage adaptability and strive to enlighten those who encounter our members and their art.

  • Lumière exists to provide a space for individuals to continue spinning through age 23, while pushing the boundaries of color guard in Mississippi and aiming for international competition while inspiring audiences.

  • A showcase of the exceptional talent of Mississippi's students when collaboration allows them premier resources and a nurturing space for personal development. This will see our members successful and competitive on the national stage in the very near future.

  • Josh Watson

    CAPTAIN & FOUNDING MEMBER

    Josh Watson is a current freshman at the University of Mississippi, where he is studying Computer Science with a data emphasis, and minoring in Math and Management of Information Systems. Josh is from Ridgeland, MS where he attended Jackson Academy for high school. Josh spun in the JA color guard for five years, being guard captain his junior and senior years. Josh is also a former member of Jackson Independent winter guard, winning MIA Gold with the group in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Josh plans to spin for as long as he can and, after graduation, become a data engineer. In his free time, Josh sings in the Ole Miss University Chorus and watches Disney Plus. You can often find him at the Student Union, or eating at the Mexican restaurants around Oxford.

  • Ava Coombs

    FOUNDING MEMBER

    Ava Coombs is a junior at Ripley High School. She has played the flute with the Ripley Tiger Band for the last five years, however, she found her passion when she officially joined the Tiger Guard freshman year. While she isn’t very musically talented, she is a proactive and motivated member of the guard. She is striving to grow as a performer and as a person with Lumière this season. As for her future, Ava plans to attend Ole Miss but isn’t sure exactly what she wants to major in yet. However, she has a current interest in nutrition and pharmacy. One little known fact about Ava is that she has been vegetarian for three years. In her free time, she likes to watch Netflix, shop, and hang out.

  • Rylee Eaton

    FOUNDING MEMBER

    Rylee Eaton is a current freshman at Itawamba Community College, where she is majoring in Elementary Education. She is from Mantachie, Ms. where she graduated from Mantachie High School. She spun for four years in Mantachie’s marching band and one year of winter guard. Her senior year she got the privilege to be co-captain. She has also spun one season with the ICC All American Band. This summer she will be spinning with Memphis Blues Drum Corps. During her free time, she hangs out with friends, takes naps, and complains about her problems. Rylee loves color guard and plans to spin as long as her will body allow!

  • Christian Ezell

    FOUNDING MEMBER

    Christian Ezell is from Nettleton, Ms but moved to Tupelo Ms. There he spent 1 year marching trumpet and 2 years with Tupelo High School guard and served as co captain. Christian also spent a summer with Memphis blues drum corps, where he will serve as color guard captain this year! He has also been choreographing since his junior year, and plans on being a Choreographer, Clothing designer, and Event Decorator. You will always catch him napping, practicing, laying on the floor randomly or taking selfies.

  • Cassidy Edwards

    FOUNDING MEMBER

    Cassidy Edwards is a current freshman at Itawamba Community College studying Music Education with an instrumental emphasis as a saxophone player. Cassidy graduated from Mantachie Attendance center in 2023. Cassidy has participated in the Mantachie high school color guard for four years, three of those years as captain. She also participated Mantachie Indoor Color guard and Indoor winds group. Aside from color guard, Cassidy enjoys spending time with her friends she’s made at ICC, practicing saxophone, and watching Disney Plus. Cassidy plans to continue her education at the University of Mississippi to maintain her Bachelors degree. If you ever need to find Cassidy, she’s probably in the Fine Arts building watching the new Percy Jackson and the Olympians series with her friends.

  • Cole Freeman

    FOUNDING MEMBER

    Cole Freeman is a freshman at Itawamba Community College and he is a Music Education major. Cole is a 2023 graduate of Neshoba Central High School, where he spun with Neshoba Central Azul for 3 seasons. Cole has spun for only 3 years. He was a member of the 2023 Mississippi Lions All-State Band and he is also a member of the 2024 Blue Knights Colorguard. In his free time, Cole enjoys hanging out with friends and listening to Taylor Swift.

  • Kylee Rafnson

    FOUNDING MEMBER

    Kylee Rafnson has spun since her junior year at DeSoto Central High School and this is her fourth year spinning. After High School she attended ICC and spun with their guard and is graduating a year early with her associates degree in graphic design. After she graduates in May with her associates degree she is going to Ole Miss for her Integrated Marketing Communications Bachelor Degree. Outside of school she does a lot of arts and crafts and she likes spending time with her friends as well as roller skating in her free time.
